  4. Oriana is a copyrighted shareware program produced by Kovach
  5. Computing Services.  Descriptions and system requirements for
  6. the software appear later in this document.

  8. Oriana may be freely copied and distributed, so long as the
  9. following conditions are met:

  11. 1) The program must be distributed in its entirety.  All the
  12.    files listed in the FILES.LST file must be included. 
  13.  
  14. 2) The program and documentation files must not be modified in
  15.    any way.  In particular, all copyright messages must remain
  16.    intact.

  18. 3) A fee may be charged for distribution so long as you
  19.    clearly explain the shareware concept to recipients.  You
  20.    must make it clear to users that they are buying an
  21.    evaluation copy of the program and that they are required
  22.    to register the program with Kovach Computing Services if

  68. Oriana - Circular/orientation stats for Windows, ver. 1.0

  70. Medium Description: 
  71. Oriana for Windows ver. 1.0 calculates the special forms of
  72. sample and inter-sample statistics required for circular data
  73. (e.g. directional data or time of day).  It also graphs your data
  74. in a variety of ways, allowing you to easily demonstrate
  75. patterns.  Oriana calculates the circular mean, length of the
  76. mean vector, circular standard deviation and standard error, 95%
  77. and 99% confidence limits, and Rayleigh's test of uniformity for
  78. each sample in your data file.  Pairs of samples can be compared
  79. with Watson's F-test for two circular means. The overall
  80. distributions of two samples can be compared with Chi-squared
  81. tests.  The data for each sample can be summarised with rose
  82. diagrams or circular histograms as well as linear histograms.
  83. The individual observations can be shown in raw data plots.
  84. Uniformity plots allow you to assess whether the data depart from
  85. a uniform distribution.

  88. Are you working with directional data measured in degrees?
  89. Perhaps your research involves looking at patterns in the time of
  90. day of events.  These are circular data and require special types
  91. of statistics.  If you want to analyse this type of data, then
  92. Oriana is just what you need.

  94. Oriana calculates the special forms of sample and inter-sample
  95. statistics required for circular data.  It also graphs your data
  96. in a variety of ways, allowing you to easily demonstrate
  97. patterns.  Oriana calculates the circular mean, length of the

  113. Oriana is a true Windows program, designed to be easy to use and
  114. compatible with your other Windows applications.  It remembers
  115. your previous choice of options, so that subsequent analyses can
  116. be done in just a couple of mouse clicks or key presses.  Oriana
  117. uses the new KCS desktop metaphor.  You can spread out your data,
  118. the statistical results and several graphs in front of you while
  119. you study them, just like paper on your desktop.  Try new graphs,
  120. add new data, peruse the results, then print or save just those
  121. that you need.  When you exit Oriana you can save the position
  122. and contents of all the windows on your desktop.  Later you can
  123. restore it to the same state.  Oriana lets you pick up where you
  124. left off.  Multiple desktops can be saved for different projects.
